2020 First Eucharist at SMV Parish
Parents are encouraged to take their child to any Mass for their First Communion at SMV Parish. As much as we would love to see our children receive as one group in the tradition of our parish, it is not possible this year. Many families have already taken their child to Mass to receive Jesus. Some on a Sunday, others at a daily Mass. Please consider this option so that your child no longer has to wait to receive Jesus.
After speaking with the Archdiocese, we are able to offer reserved seating on Saturday, August 15th at the 4:00 PM Mass and on Sunday, August 16th at the 11:15 AM Mass. A seating chart will be sent to the families. Pews with the family's last names will be posted on the outside of the each pew indicating where families are to sit.
Communicants are to sit with their family. We recommend that the communicant be the first to receive in each family. The consecrated host is to be received in the hand. If receiving on the tongue is preferred, there is a special line available after all have received in the hand.
May your days ahead be filled with peace knowing that your child is chosen to be God's beloved. There is no greater love than the love shared in the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
