AA: Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Time Commitment: The Elm Grove Staying Sober AA group meets Saturday mornings from 7:00-8:00am in the Senior Center. Contact the Parish Office, 262-782-4575.
Adoration Chapel: Volunteers are needed to spend time as adorers of the Holy Eucharist in the Chapel. Coverage is needed 24/7. A person may commit for an hour weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, depending on his/her schedule. Substitutes are also needed. If a person cannot sign up for a regular hour, he/she may volunteer to serve as a substitute, to be contacted when a need arises. Volunteers are needed to maintain the environment within the chapel, as well as cleaners for 2-3 hour shifts on Good Friday and Holy Saturday. Time Commitment: Depends on the availability of Adorer. Adult Formation: St. Mary’s Visitation seeks to invite and enable ongoing conversion to Jesus and holiness of life, promote and support active membership in the Church, and call and prepare adults to act as disciples in mission to the world. We seek to do this through a variety of opportunities, including those that are systematic, occasional, individual, community, organized, and spontaneous — aimed at adults of all ages, vocations, and backgrounds. Ongoing Adult Formation Programming and Proclaiming the Faith Groups: Volunteers are needed to help out with varied and ongoing adult formation programming, which may include small faith sharing communities, Bible studies, discussion groups, etc. Volunteers are needed as facilitators, contact people, program coordinators, and leaders. Time Commitment: Varies with needs of groups and programs. Some programs will be one-time; while others may meet over a number of days or weeks; while still others may be indefinite. Angel Tree Volunteer: This outreach program strives to make the Christmas holiday special by providing clothing, toys, games and personal items to children, adults and organizations in eed during the Advent and Christmas season. The Angel Tree truly represents the Christian spirit of giving. Monetary donations are distributed to area organizations to ensure that the wishes of those in need are fulfilled during the Christmas season. Art & Environment Ministry: This ministry consists of volunteers who decorate the sanctuary and hurch throughout the liturgical year. Their function is to develop an atmosphere within the worship area that enhances the prayer life of the community and promotes their active participation. Christmas and Easter are the major seasons that requier assistance. All are welcome to volunteer, wheterh you're creative or simply able to offer a helping hand. Assistance is also needed for selling poinsettias during Advent and Easter lilies during Lent. Time Commitment: Days prior to liturgical seasons or church feast days. Baker for Parish Events: Volunteers are needed from time to time throughout the year to provide baked goods for parish events. Bereavement Ministry: Our Bereavement Ministry ensures that members of our parish community do not grieve alone. Our Bereavement Ministers have experienced grief or have assisted someone in dealing with grief, and now have the opportunity to stand In the place of Christ and offer healing to others and a sign of hope. Catholic Formation Committee: The purpose of the Catholic Formation Committee is to give leadership to the parish, Parish Pastoral Council and Catholic Formation staff in the areas of Catholic Formation/Religious Education for children, youth, young adults, adults, families and many specialized groups. Their concerns include religious instruction, sacramental preparation, evangelization, family life, vocation, spirituality and ecumenical and interfaith activities. Time Commitment: The Catholic Formation Committee will determine how often to meet with the expectation of an initial one year term. Child Ministry: It’s where children grow and learn about their faith! We teach children (K4–4th grade) about God and His Church and help them encounter Jesus in a more personal way through prayer, study and example. Some of our ministries include: our toddler ministry - Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Catholic Formation for children (K4–4th grade), retreats and events for families like Vacation Bible School. Choirs:
Confirmation Prep: Designed to offer teens (Gr. 11) a life-changing experience as they journey through their Catholic faith in all its richness and vitality as they get ready to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. Group leaders are needed to lead Confirmation Discernment sessions (5), participate in one weekend overnight retreat, and celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation with the teens. Christian Women’s Society: The Mission Statement of the Christian Women’s Society is “to enhance the spirituality of the women of the parish and community” and by extension, all who come in contact with these women, especially their families. Programs and events are planned to minister to women of all ages and to refresh and renew the spirit. The hope is that each member’s participation is enriched through finding friends, fellowship, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. All are welcome and encouraged to attend any or as many of the programs and events scheduled including the Sunday Speaker Series, the Annual Salad Supper, the Family Rosary, May Crowning, and the Annual Spring Luncheon. Church Linen Maintenance: Responsible for the cleaning of the sacristy linens and server albs. The linens can be taken and washed at the volunteer’s home. EDGE: An international Catholic Formation program present in more than 1,000 parishes around the world. It reaches youth in the middle school years (Gr. 5-8) with a fun and interactive program rooted in reaching the young people where they are and inviting them into a relationship with Christ and His Church through skits, games, small group sessions, and retreats, while sharing the Gospel in a dynamic way that is completely faithful to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Elizabeth Ministry: The Elizabeth Ministry is a quiet, confidential outreach that responds to the joys and sorrows of a man or woman’s life during the childbearing years. By sharing personal stories and similar experiences, men and women are able to support, encourage and assist one another during this unique time in their lives. The Elizabeth Ministry follows the example of the scriptural story of the Visitation by bringing men and women together who share a similar story. We celebrate the gift of each child conceived and born. We mourn each miscarriage, abortion, stillbirth, and infant or child death. We treasure the gift of fertility. We support those suffering infertility. We encourage those in the adoption process. Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist: Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist are privileged to assist the presider in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ to the assembly. They serve at all liturgies. There is a group who minister only at the 6:30 am daily Mass. All Catholics who have been confirmed are invited to share in this special ministry. Gardeners: We need members in this group who are interested in and capable of doing typical gardening work for St. Mary’s on occasion. Work sessions of approximately four hours occur primarily in May, July, and October, but may be scheduled at other times for specific projects. Watering assignments are available throughout the growing season and usually take one to 1 ½ hours. Home & School Association: The H & S Association provides programs, opportunities and funds to assist our school children and families with educational, religious and community enhancement. Volunteer needs are as follows: Board Members; Chair or Co-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Volunteer Coordinator. Time Commitment: One school year with monthly board meetings. Committee/Program Chairs for the following programs: Publicity, New Parent Social, Magazine Drive, Parish Picnic (6th Grade Families) Trivia Night, Spooks & Spoofs, Barnes & Noble Book Fair, Scholastic Book Fair, Chili Chomp, Memorial Day Parade Float, Elementary Forensics, Jr. High Forensics, Field Day, Hospitality, Market Day, SCRIP, Auction. Homebound Ministry: This special ministry connects St. Mary’s Visitation Parish with parish members who are unable to celebrate Mass with us due to age, illness or physical limitations. Our homebound parishioners are loved and prayed for and are vital members of our parish community. Any St. Mary’s Visitation parishioner who has been confirmed and is a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church may be a Homebound Minister. We especially encourage family members of the homebound person to be a part of this ministry.

Human Concerns Ministry: The Human Concerns Ministry works to meet the needs of our parishioners who are sick, elderly, homebound, grieving, as well as those dealing with extreme financial hardship and difficult situations in their lives. When Human Concerns hears of a need, we coordinate with our parish-based resources. Through generous contributions and donations of time and talent, your support helps to satisfy the needs of fellow parishioners. We are only coordinators in this effort, connecting those in need with the resources we have available. Special thanks go to the following within our parish who generously give of their time and talent to assist those in need. Christian Women, parish knitters, physicians, nurses, attorneys, homebound ministers, SMV teachers, SMV family volunteers and a multitude of local businesses. Items and services we have been able to share with those in need include: Work boots, employment leads, roof repair, medical house calls, Thanksgiving baskets, apartment searches, prayer shawls, flu shots auto repair, grief counseling Communion to the homebound, eye exams, eye glasses, gas cards, clothing, funeral arrangements, appliances, etc. Please let us know when and where there is a critical need in our parish. Juveniles in Jail Ministry: Share the message of God’s love and forgiveness with children, 12 to 16 years old, who are being held at the Milwaukee County Juvenile Detention Center, just 2 miles east of St. Mary’s on Watertown Plank Road. Many of these children are affected by prior abuse and all suffer from loneliness and despair. This ministry has been active for approximately 50 years through the St. Mary’s Visitation Christian Women’s group. Time Commitment: 10-11:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Knights of Columbus: Becoming a Knight of Columbus can transform your life. As a Knight, you have the opportunity to support your parish, give back to your community, and grow in your faith. We are a band of brothers, a network of men in communities around the world dedicated to doing good in the service of God and our neighbor. Our efforts are directed toward supporting our priests and seminarians, pro-life, Catholic education; and charitable aid to those in need. Over forty Knights belong to our parish, many serving in roles such as Ministers of Welcome, Eucharistic Ministers, and caring for parish grounds. Lectors: Lectors accept the privileged role of proclaiming the Word of God in a manner that can nourish the assembly. They reflect upon the reading itself as well as its contextual background. They apply effective methods of oral proclamation so that the congregation may enter into the experience of God’s Living Word. High school youth and adult parishioners interested in proclaiming God’s Word are always welcome. Time Commitment: Scheduled once or twice a month. Mass preferences accommodated. Marriage Preparation: Happily married couples are needed to act as sponsors to help prepare engaged couples for the Sacrament of Matrimony and administer the FOCCUS questionnaire. Training is provided. Time Commitment: Sponsor couples work with 1- 2 couples per year and meet with each couple 2-3 times. Contact: Parish Office, 262-782-4575.
Ministers of Hospitality: Ministers of Hospitality are the first to welcome each person to Sunday worship. They help with the collection, the communion procession and other needs of the community. The Ministry of Hospitality is open to all ages. Young children are encouraged to participate as able with their families. New Beginnings: This Quad Parish organization is for widows and widowers of all faiths. It provides support for each other through spiritual, social and cultural activities. The activities have included art shows, travel, concerts, fish fries and retreats. Meetings have included presentations by several pastors and visiting priests. Parish Building & Grounds Committee: The Building & Grounds Committee members provide oversight and guidance for maintaining, utilizing and advancing parish and school buildings and real estate. The committee consists of 12-15 individuals with varied experience in contractor trades, building services and landscape service fields. Time Commitment: The committee meets ten times per year. Parish Finance Council: The Finance Council has established standing subcommittees to monitor financial statements and internal controls, investment returns, policies, parish stewardship and budget preparation. Appointments to the Finance Council are made by the pastor. The Council is advisory to the pastor and has self-perpetuating membership. New members are confirmed by the pastor. The Ad Hoc project committees report to the Parish Finance Council. Time Commitment: The Council meets six times per year.

Parish Pastoral Council: The Parish Council serves as an advisory body to the pastor and parish staff. Representing the broad diversity of parishioners, their wisdom helps guide the spiritual leadership, governance and planning of the parish. Standing committees include: Prayer and Worship; School; Catholic Formation; Finance; Building and Grounds. There are also ad hoc committees that serve for special projects and activities as needed. Members serve a three year term. There are 12 members. Three new members are elected each year. The Council meets eight times a year. Once a year there is a special day of reflection. Parish Pancake Breakfast: The breakfast is sponsored by the Boy Scouts and takes place in January. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks including ticket sales, ordering food, food service, decorations, dishwashing, set up, clean up and day of event help. Time Commitment: Varies from a few hours on the day of event to several hours per week leading up to the event. Contact the School Office, 262-782-7057.
Parish Picnic Volunteer: The second weekend in September, school parents organize and host a picnic for parishioners to thank them for their support of the school. Following the 11:00 am Sunday Mass parishioners share a meal, visit and enjoy entertainment. Volunteers are needed to assist in scheduling volunteers, organize children’s games or activities, entertainment, marketing, decorations, set up, take down and help day of the event. Prayer & Worship Committee: The Prayer and Worship Committee works closely with the Liturgy & Music Office to evaluate all aspects of liturgy at St. Mary’s Visitation and to develop ways to improve the worship, prayer and spiritual life of our parish community. The study of liturgical documents and texts throughout the year forms committee members for this task. Time Commitment: Meetings are held six times a year (September-May). RCIA: The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process established for the church for individuals to become Catholic and receive the sacraments of initiation. This initiation process also involves a parish community experiencing a renewal of faith as it prepares and welcomes new members into the Church. Centered on fostering a deep relationship with Jesus and the Church He founded, this journey takes place through distinct stages over a period of time suitable to bring about a thorough catechesis, experience of parish life, and commitment to the moral and liturgical life of the Church. Volunteers are needed to be catechists, small group facilitators, hospitality, and team leaders. Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week, which includes catechetical sessions, preparation, and prayer. Sacristans: Sacristans open the church doors in the morning and set up Mass needs for the priests. Replenishing candles as needed is also part of the position. Time Commitment: Volunteers needed before and after 6:30 am Mass, rotating every 4-6 weeks. Contact Liz Steybe, lsteybe@stmaryeg.org.
School Volunteers: School parents donate thousands of hours of service, selecting their roles in August. We welcome non-school parent parishioner assistance for many of our activities. Servers/Adult: Volunteers are trained to be Acolyte ministers who serve at the daily 6:30 a.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. Masses. Time Commitment: Adult servers are scheduled for a week at a time every six to eight weeks. Contact Liz Steybe, lsteybe@stmaryeg.org.

Servers/Youth: Boys and girls who are in 6th grade through high school are invited to be altar servers. They act as the assembly’s representatives in assisting the presider in the celebration of daily and Sunday Mass, weddings, and other liturgical celebrations. Servers are trained both to assist in the celebrations, and to prepare and clean up the sanctuary and sacristy. Time Commitment: Scheduled for your preferred weekend Mass approximately 1-2 times every 4 months. Day students are scheduled for the 8:00 am Mass during the school year. St. Ben’s Meal Program: Volunteers needed to prepare and bake casseroles, make jellos or baked goods every other first Tuesday of the month. Volunteers are needed to help serve at St. Ben’s on the first Tuesday of the month. Volunteers are needed to deliver ham and cheese to those who volunteered to make the casserole. Thrift Shop Volunteer: Volunteers are periodically needed to help process incoming donations by hanging clothing, pricing items and displaying on the sales floor. Hours are flexible. YDisciple: Provides an ideal environment for teenagers (Grades 9-12) to come to know and love their faith. Discipleship is not a program - it is an apprenticeship in the Christian life. YDisciple is designed to: Train and equip adults to disciple teens; Connect teens with caring, faith-filled adults who can apprentice them in the disciplines of a disciple. Catholic Formation Committee: The purpose of the Catholic Formation Committee is to give leadership to the parish, Parish Pastoral Council and Catholic Formation staff in the areas of Catholic Formation/Religious Education for children, youth, young adults, adults, families and many specialized groups. Their concerns include religious instruction, sacramental preparation, evangelization, family life, vocation, spirituality and ecumenical and interfaith activities. Child Ministry: It’s where children grow and learn about their faith! We teach children (K4–4th grade) about God and His Church and help them encounter Jesus in a more personal way through prayer, study and example. Some of our ministries include: our toddler ministry - Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Catholic Formation for children (K4–4th grade), retreats and events for families like Vacation Bible School. - Catechists / Teachers: Catechists are responsible for teaching a small group of children in our Catholic Formation program. Lesson plans and materials are provided for Catechists. Time Commitment: One hour a week (plus prep-time) during the school year.
- Classroom Assistants: Assistants serve as extra hands for the Catechist during Catholic Formation classes. Time Commitment: One hour a week during the school year.
- Vacation Bible School Volunteer Leaders and Assistants: A team of volunteers is needed to help with groups of children, lead music, create crafts, environment and more. This worthwhile one week Vacation Bible School during the summer was a great success this past summer – consider how you may be able to help with this week-long event.

Confirmation Prep: Designed to offer teens (Gr. 11) a life-changing experience as they journey through their Catholic faith in all its richness and vitality as they get ready to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. Group leaders are needed to lead Confirmation Discernment sessions (5), participate in one weekend overnight retreat, and celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation with the teens. Christian Women’s Society: The Mission Statement of the Christian Women’s Society is “to enhance the spirituality of the women of the parish and community” and by extension, all who come in contact with these women, especially their families. Programs and events are planned to minister to women of all ages and to refresh and renew the spirit. The hope is that each member’s participation is enriched through finding friends, fellowship, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. All are welcome and encouraged to attend any or as many of the programs and events scheduled including the Sunday Speaker Series, the Annual Salad Supper, the Family Rosary, May Crowning, and the Annual Spring Luncheon. Church Linen Maintenance: Responsible for the cleaning of the sacristy linens and server albs. The linens can be taken and washed at the volunteer’s home. EDGE: An international Catholic Formation program present in more than 1,000 parishes around the world. It reaches youth in the middle school years (Gr. 5-8) with a fun and interactive program rooted in reaching the young people where they are and inviting them into a relationship with Christ and His Church through skits, games, small group sessions, and retreats, while sharing the Gospel in a dynamic way that is completely faithful to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Elizabeth Ministry: The Elizabeth Ministry is a quiet, confidential outreach that responds to the joys and sorrows of a man or woman’s life during the childbearing years. By sharing personal stories and similar experiences, men and women are able to support, encourage and assist one another during this unique time in their lives. The Elizabeth Ministry follows the example of the scriptural story of the Visitation by bringing men and women together who share a similar story. We celebrate the gift of each child conceived and born. We mourn each miscarriage, abortion, stillbirth, and infant or child death. We treasure the gift of fertility. We support those suffering infertility. We encourage those in the adoption process. Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist: Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist are privileged to assist the presider in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ to the assembly. They serve at all liturgies. There is a group who minister only at the 6:30 am daily Mass. All Catholics who have been confirmed are invited to share in this special ministry. Gardeners: We need members in this group who are interested in and capable of doing typical gardening work for St. Mary’s on occasion. Work sessions of approximately four hours occur primarily in May, July, and October, but may be scheduled at other times for specific projects. Watering assignments are available throughout the growing season and usually take one to 1 ½ hours. Home & School Association: The H & S Association provides programs, opportunities and funds to assist our school children and families with educational, religious and community enhancement. Homebound Ministry: This special ministry connects St. Mary’s Visitation Parish with parish members who are unable to celebrate Mass with us due to age, illness or physical limitations. Our homebound parishioners are loved and prayed for and are vital members of our parish community. Any St. Mary’s Visitation parishioner who has been confirmed and is a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church may be a Homebound Minister. We especially encourage family members of the homebound person to be a part of this ministry.

Human Concerns Ministry: The Human Concerns Ministry works to meet the needs of our parishioners who are sick, elderly, homebound, grieving, as well as those dealing with extreme financial hardship and difficult situations in their lives. When Human Concerns hears of a need, we coordinate with our parish-based resources. Through generous contributions and donations of time and talent, your support helps to satisfy the needs of fellow parishioners. We are only coordinators in this effort, connecting those in need with the resources we have available. Special thanks go to the following within our parish who generously give of their time and talent to assist those in need. Christian Women, parish knitters, physicians, nurses, attorneys, homebound ministers, SMV teachers, SMV family volunteers and a multitude of local businesses. Juveniles in Jail Ministry: Share the message of God’s love and forgiveness with children, 12 to 16 years old, who are being held at the Milwaukee County Juvenile Detention Center, just 2 miles east of St. Mary’s on Watertown Plank Road. Many of these children are affected by prior abuse and all suffer from loneliness and despair. This ministry has been active for approximately 50 years through the St. Mary’s Visitation Christian Women’s group. Time Commitment: 10-11:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Knights of Columbus: Becoming a Knight of Columbus can transform your life. As a Knight, you have the opportunity to support your parish, give back to your community, and grow in your faith. We are a band of brothers, a network of men in communities around the world dedicated to doing good in the service of God and our neighbor. Our efforts are directed toward supporting our priests and seminarians, pro-life, Catholic education; and charitable aid to those in need. Over forty Knights belong to our parish, many serving in roles such as Ministers of Welcome, Eucharistic Ministers, and caring for parish grounds. Lectors: Lectors accept the privileged role of proclaiming the Word of God in a manner that can nourish the assembly. They reflect upon the reading itself as well as its contextual background. They apply effective methods of oral proclamation so that the congregation may enter into the experience of God’s Living Word. Marriage Preparation: Happily married couples are needed to act as sponsors to help prepare engaged couples for the Sacrament of Matrimony and administer the FOCCUS questionnaire. Ministers of Hospitality: Ministers of Hospitality are the first to welcome each person to Sunday worship. They help with the collection, the communion procession and other needs of the community. The Ministry of Hospitality is open to all ages. Young children are encouraged to participate as able with their families. New Beginnings: This Quad Parish organization is for widows and widowers of all faiths. It provides support for each other through spiritual, social and cultural activities. The activities have included art shows, travel, concerts, fish fries and retreats. Meetings have included presentations by several pastors and visiting priests. Parish Building & Grounds Committee: The Building & Grounds Committee members provide oversight and guidance for maintaining, utilizing and advancing parish and school buildings and real estate. The committee consists of 12-15 individuals with varied experience in contractor trades, building services and landscape service fields. Time Commitment: The committee meets ten times per year. Parish Finance Council: The Finance Council has established standing subcommittees to monitor financial statements and internal controls, investment returns, policies, parish stewardship and budget preparation. Appointments to the Finance Council are made by the pastor. The Council is advisory to the pastor and has self-perpetuating membership. New members are confirmed by the pastor. The Ad Hoc project committees report to the Parish Finance Council. Time Commitment: The Council meets six times per year.

Parish Pastoral Council: The Parish Council serves as an advisory body to the pastor and parish staff. Representing the broad diversity of parishioners, their wisdom helps guide the spiritual leadership, governance and planning of the parish. Standing committees include: Prayer and Worship; School; Catholic Formation; Finance; Building and Grounds. There are also ad hoc committees that serve for special projects and activities as needed. Members serve a three year term. There are 12 members. Three new members are elected each year. The Council meets eight times a year. Once a year there is a special day of reflection. Parish Pancake Breakfast: The breakfast is sponsored by the Boy Scouts and takes place in January. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks including ticket sales, ordering food, food service, decorations, dishwashing, set up, clean up and day of event help. Parish Picnic Volunteer: The second weekend in September, school parents organize and host a picnic for parishioners to thank them for their support of the school. Following the 11:00 am Sunday Mass parishioners share a meal, visit and enjoy entertainment. Volunteers are needed to assist in scheduling volunteers, organize children’s games or activities, entertainment, marketing, decorations, set up, take down and help day of the event. Prayer & Worship Committee: The Prayer and Worship Committee works closely with the Liturgy & Music Office to evaluate all aspects of liturgy at St. Mary’s Visitation and to develop ways to improve the worship, prayer and spiritual life of our parish community. The study of liturgical documents and texts throughout the year forms committee members for this task. Time Commitment: Meetings are held six times a year (September-May). RCIA: The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process established for the church for individuals to become Catholic and receive the sacraments of initiation. This initiation process also involves a parish community experiencing a renewal of faith as it prepares and welcomes new members into the Church. Centered on fostering a deep relationship with Jesus and the Church He founded, this journey takes place through distinct stages over a period of time suitable to bring about a thorough catechesis, experience of parish life, and commitment to the moral and liturgical life of the Church. Volunteers are needed to be catechists, small group facilitators, hospitality, and team leaders. Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week, which includes catechetical sessions, preparation, and prayer. School Volunteers: School parents donate thousands of hours of service, selecting their roles in August. We welcome non-school parent parishioner assistance for many of our activities. We extend our thanks to all school parent and non-school parent volunteers. Please contact the School Office, (262) 782-7057. Volunteer opportunities are as follows:
- Ambassador Family: Assist in the recruitment of new families by providing tours during Open House and to follow up with prospective families to invite them to various programs, to make them feel welcomed, and to respond to any questions they might have. Time Commitment: Open House, and as needed throughout year.
- Athletics: There are various athletic opportunities. Express interest to Athletic Director. Time Commitment: Varies.
- Auction for Education: This is an annual adult social function and fundraiser held in the school gymnasium. Volunteers are needed to assist with the silent auction. This involves help with solicitation, follow-up, packaging and set-up of donated items. Volunteers are also needed with decorations, set up and clean up. Time Commitment: Varies.
- Book Fair: Volunteers are needed to assist students and parents with selection and sales throughout the week of the Book Fair. Time Commitment: Various day and evening shifts available throughout the week.
- Event Photographer: Volunteers needed to take photographs at the various Home and School events throughout the year. Anyone who owns a camera will qualify. Time Commitment: Varies.
- Field Day: This year-end event is held at SMV or the Elm Grove Village Park. Volunteers are needed to help run the various competitions and serve lunch. This event runs all day. Time Commitment: Varies.
- Forensics: A highly successful program for students in grades three through eight. Volunteers are needed to assist at both in-house and outside meets in the areas of coaching, hospitality, and awards. Training will be provided for coaching. Time Commitment: Varies.
- General Office Assistant: Assist the School Secretary with office tasks or first health response needs. May help with copying and laminating. Time Commitment: Varies.
- Hospitality: All events are preplanned and you are given a list of all the events for the year (usually 8 to 10). Great for both people who like to cook and those that do not have a lot of time to cook. You will receive an email two weeks prior to an event and will be given a choice of items to prepare or purchase. Meals are usually simple: salads, desserts, soups, fruits, veggies, etc. Even though we love homemade things, we do also ask for items that can easily be bought such as rolls, condiments, lunch meats, drinks, etc. We especially need helpers for setup and cleanup, so if you can just donate some time here or there (you can even bring your kids) that would be great! Eat, drink, and be merry! Time Commitment: Two hours per event.
- Library Aides: Assist students during scheduled library time and/or categorize and shelve books as directed by the Librarian. Times are flexible. In-service required. Time Commitment: Varies.
- Market Day: Volunteers needed to work one Wednesday afternoon per month unloading the truck and sorting food. Additional help is needed with reminder telephone calls and someone who is willing to prepare a promotional flyer to be attached to order forms each month. This is a worthwhile fundraiser that runs throughout the school year. Time Commitment: Two to three hours per month sorting and packing food orders for pick-up.
- Memorial Day Parade: The fourth grade classes are responsible for coordinating the SMV activities for the Elm Grove Memorial Day Parade. You will be representing the school during the parade. Time Commitment: Varies.
- Parish Picnic & Welcome: This social event is sponsored by our Home and School Association and is hosted by school parents. Parents are encouraged to sign up for volunteer opportunities available. Time Commitment: Varies.
- Room Parent: The teacher’s main contact for organizing Classroom Aides to assist with special projects, field trips, and other classroom needs. Commitment will vary depending upon grade level and classroom. Time Commitment: Varies.
- School Committee: The School Committee serves as an advisory body to the Principal. It coordinates the work of subcommittees, approves the budget and monitors the school plan. Subcommittees: Advancement handles school recruiting, publicity and marketing. Planning monitors student programs, seeks input, develops responses to needs. Policy reviews handbook, seeks input, develops proposals for policy additions or changes. Budget prepares and monitors annual budget for the school. Technology maintains technology plan, envisions growth and implements plans. Ad Hoc Projects assist in studying and planning for needs that arise throughout the school year. Time Commitment: School Committee and Planning Committee meet once per month. Technology meets quarterly. Policy, Budget and Advancement meet as needed.
- Scrip Program: This program raises funds for our school through the use of gift certificates purchased from a variety of retailers. When St. Mary’s school families and parishioners make purchases using these gift certificates, the retailers give a percentage back to the school. Help is needed with advertising and promoting this program. Also, weekly help needed with sales and inventory, tabulations and filling orders. Time Commitment: Two hours per week.
- Scouting: Scout leaders and co-leaders needed. Parental assistance is always welcome. Time Commitment: Varies.
- Spooks and Spoofs: This is a community event held in the school and gymnasium. Volunteers needed to help with setup, decorations, food and drink service, games, prizes, take-down, etc. Time Commitment: Varies with level of volunteerism.
Servers/Adult: Volunteers are trained to be Acolyte ministers who serve at the daily 6:30 a.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. Masses. Time Commitment: Adult servers are scheduled for a week at a time every six to eight weeks. Contact Liz Steybe, lsteybe@stmaryeg.org.
Servers/Funerals: Adult and high school servers assist our priests at funerals. Time Commitment: Depends on availability and parish needs. High school students serve on weekends and during school vacations. Contact Liz Steybe, lsteybe@stmaryeg.org.
Servers/Youth: Boys and girls who are in 6th grade through high school are invited to be altar servers. They act as the assembly’s representatives in assisting the presider in the celebration of daily and Sunday Mass, weddings, and other liturgical celebrations. Servers are trained both to assist in the celebrations, and to prepare and clean up the sanctuary and sacristy. Time Commitment: Scheduled for your preferred weekend Mass approximately 1-2 times every 4 months. Day students are scheduled for the 8:00 am Mass during the school year. St. Ben’s Meal Program: Volunteers needed to prepare and bake casseroles, make jellos or baked goods every other first Tuesday of the month. Volunteers are needed to help serve at St. Ben’s on the first Tuesday of the month. Volunteers are needed to deliver ham and cheese to those who volunteered to make the casserole. This is to be done the weekend before the first Tuesday of the month. Time Commitment: 1-2 hours. Contact: Sue Olbrantz or Monica Schmidt through the Parish Office, 262-782-4575.
Thrift Shop Volunteer: Volunteers are periodically needed to help process incoming donations by hanging clothing, pricing items and displaying on the sales floor. Hours are flexible. YDisciple: Provides an ideal environment for teenagers (Grades 9-12) to come to know and love their faith. Discipleship is not a program - it is an apprenticeship in the Christian life. YDisciple is designed to: Train and equip adults to disciple teens; Connect teens with caring, faith-filled adults who can apprentice them in the disciplines of a disciple. - YDisciple Volunteers: Volunteers are needed for several jobs to help the High School YDisciple programs run smoothly. Provide quality content so adult leaders can effectively introduce and explore topics of the faith; Mobilize as many adults as possible to mentor teens through a user-friendly online platform.
- YDisciple Core Team Members: Work with Youth Minister to plan Youth Ministry classes. Attend core team meetings with Youth Minister, help develop and implement YDisciple nights, participate in YDisciple sessions and lead small group discussion with high school teens.
