Lunch Playground Supervision Guidelines and Rules All supervisors should sign in/out at the office and check-out a walkie-talkie (as available). Walkie-talkie's should all be set on channel “1”. Please communicate with office when you are sending in an injured child, so they know what to expect. The adult supervisor should space themselves throughout the playground areas so all children are being supervised. Please be especially aware of the children who are looking “mischievous”, wandering around alone, tightly grouped in knots, or in the early stages of horseplay. In these cases, talk to these children. Simple phrases like, “How are you doing today?” or “Is everything alright here?” gives children an opening to signal for help in some way if needed or a warning that you have your eye on them and they should behave. Most of our children respond well to this supervision, but check back in 2-3 minutes just to be sure. If you have questions, ask the teacher on duty. Do not be afraid to be within earshot of knots of students. You are there to hear what the students are saying. They should not be saying anything that they wouldn't want you to hear. If you observe something happening that you think shouldn't be, say so. “That's not appropriate.” “Make a better choice.” This usually works. Also, there is to be:
Please remember the importance of this supervision and how quickly “incidences” can occur. An ADULT must retrieve any fly balls (i.e. street, neighbors, church lot). If any children are NOT following the guidelines listed above, and your “word to the wise” goes unheeded, please escort them to the teacher on duty . The teacher will determine any further action that needs to be taken. Playground Structure/Soccer Field/Basketball Court Schedule: Monday – 1 st grade
Friday – rotates by month as follows: Grades are divided as follows: Children may enter the building to use the restroom, but one person at a time. Thanks again for making our school playground a safer, healthier place!
